Gary joined Heytesbury Pastoral in January 1999, when he was appointed Overseer at Mt Sanford Station. Tinkey officially joined the team in April 2000, after a short stint helping out in the stock camp at Mt Sanford in 1999. Her first official role was working as the cook at Victoria River Downs while Gary was in the Assistant Manager role, before she progressed into administration. Both have progressed through the company in various roles, also managing Moolooloo and Mt Sanford Stations, before taking over the reins at Flora Valley from 2013, all while raising their two children.
Both come with a wealth of knowledge in the cattle industry. Gary worked on several stations in Queensland, before making the move to the Northern Territory, where he met Tinkey at the Pearl of the North campdraft in 1998. Tinkey was born and raised in Darwin, growing up on her families cattle station. She worked contract mustering in the Douglas Daly region as well as some time spent working in export yards prior to joining our team. Both are well known for their horsemanship skills – you’ll often find them competing at, and winning, many campdrafts in the region.
“Socially, we had met a lot of good people who worked for Heytesbury Pastoral, and we saw a real opportunity for progression there. Heytesbury Pastoral has a reputation for cattle that perform, and they practice horse-back mustering, which was something that we wanted to continue doing. Heytesbury has given us opportunities to progress our business management and leadership skills, as well as cattle management and horsemanship skills.”
